Hi everybody,
I'm workin' with a female singer (cool pop/rock style; acoustic gtr, cello, piano) and she wants me to add some modern sounds, loops to the tunes.
It's not very original but it's gonna be my very first experience with that and I want to have some good advices, experiences and "no-mistake" tips (no better place to ask isn't it?): wich equipment? (I've first thinked for a AKAI MPC with 2 pads), how to manage the click knowing that she doesn't want me to have click on in all the tunes, etc...
I want an easy setup meaning I don't want several machines and a dozen pads: a small efficient system.
Thanks.

im currently doing my own electronic project, called Bedhead. Its basically me and sometimes a bass player. We play drum'n'bass/dub/hip hop.its still in its baby steps.but i wanted to avoid using a major electronics rig because unlike say some one like ginger fish,i dont have the funds to facilitate a huge triggering/loop system w. the necessary back up in case something goes wrong.i use a roland spd-11 octopad midi'd(sometimes) to a dr. rhythm sampler.this sampler is small.but facilitates loops and a click that a friend set up for me.eventually ill be buying a laptop to facillitate this sequencing program called Live(by Abelton),in which it will play selected loops and melodic/harmonic phrases.ive been making a little name 4 myself imitating electronic beats w. accstc. drums.i tweak ALOT of the on board sounds to suit my needs.i dont like relying on loops(specially beats) when i know i can play them my self.like i said the loops used are more compositionally utilized so i dont have to hire other musicians to play parts that i made.(besides most guys i know cant handle or trust what im doing any how.).i hope this gives you an idea or starting path.my setup is not concrete but works,it will evolve im sure.there are many configurations to go about all this, but i find reliance on electronics a bit too confining and makes people lazy with their music.so post again if u had questions about what i have written. cheers.........beats. oh you should check anything by akira jimbo.he's using a yamaha triggering system with excellent results, coupled by the fact hes a monster drummer.
